Q: How Far Can Christians Go On A Date?

A: Many Christians are asking this question more and more often. With marriage rates at an all time low, believers are looking for an alternative to lifelong companionship. However the studies suggest otherwise. Social science still points to a committed marriage, as outlined in the bible as the healthiest relationship option for two sexually consented adults. Not only are they happier and more fulfilled in the long run, but their marriage has generational effects, causing their offspring to be more likely to have strong marriages as a result.

With that in mind, why not do all of it Gods way?

The bible makes it clear that sex is to be enjoyed in the framework of marriage leaving the premarital focus entirely to preparing for the union [Proverbs 5:18]. You two have a lot to think about, and this is the best time to do it. The old saying is true, "battles are won before they are fought". You won't be able to think critically about how you’re going to build a successful marriage, if your judgment is frequently clouded by sexual behavior.

Having said that, any type of intercourse is off limits according to the bible. But this doesn't mean that everything should be allowed. Keeping one hand on what we mentioned in the previous chapter, know that God has your best in mind and is not trying to keep something from you, but trying to get His best to you, and abstinence is the best way.

This is the will of God for you [1 Corinthians 4:3-5]
